Over 100,000 Indian engineers trained to build with Gemini on Google Cloud
The Build with Gemini initiative has trained more than 100,000 engineers across seven leading global system integrators in India. This includes firms like Infosys, TCS, and Wipro, as the AI production gap continues to widen.

As enterprises increasingly rely on AI to drive operations, the need for professionals who can build and scale AI solutions has surged. The Build with Gemini initiative, hosted on Google Cloud, has trained over 100,000 engineers across India, equipping them with the skills to develop enterprise AI agents and orchestrate agentic workflows. This initiative involves seven leading global system integrators, including Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, HCLTech, IBM, and Tech Mahindra, who have played a pivotal role in scaling AI adoption across the country.
India’s technology workforce is at a critical juncture as the demand for AI expertise grows. The Build with Gemini program has been instrumental in bridging the gap between AI research and practical implementation. By training developers and architects in hands-on AI deployment, the initiative has enabled firms to integrate AI into core business processes. This has been particularly significant as Indian enterprises prepare for the next phase of AI integration, where technical proficiency and system architecture are key.
The initiative has achieved a milestone of training over 100,000 professionals, with more than 55,000 of them coming from Cognizant alone. This represents nearly one in six of Cognizant’s workforce engaging directly with Gemini models on Google Cloud. The scale of this training effort underscores the growing importance of AI in enterprise operations and the need for a skilled workforce to support it.
In India, the initiative has significant implications for the AI ecosystem, particularly for firms involved in enterprise AI. With regulators like TRAI increasingly focusing on AI governance and data privacy, the training of engineers in AI development and orchestration is becoming a strategic priority. This has positioned Indian system integrators to play a central role in shaping the future of AI deployment in the country, while also helping enterprises navigate complex regulatory environments.
The Build with Gemini initiative is still evolving, with ongoing efforts to expand training programs and refine AI capabilities. As the AI production gap continues to widen, the initiative’s focus on upskilling Indian engineers will be crucial in ensuring that enterprises can effectively leverage AI for innovation and growth. This marks a significant step forward in India’s journey toward becoming a global hub for AI development and deployment.
