JanAI, a Karnataka-based artificial intelligence initiative, has unveiled a roadmap aimed at preparing India’s higher education system for an AI-driven economy. The plan focuses on aligning educational frameworks with the evolving demands of the workforce, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence. This initiative is part of JanAI’s broader mission to build AI-enabled capabilities and create inclusive opportunities across India.

The roadmap was developed through discussions involving over 25 representatives from diverse sectors, including industry, academia, government, skilling organizations, and civil society. These discussions centered on examining the impact of AI on higher education, employment, workforce development, and entrepreneurship. The initiative highlights the need for a collaborative approach to ensure that educational institutions and industry can effectively prepare young people for the future of work.

A key focus of the roadmap is the integration of AI into the National Education Policy 2020 and the National Credit Framework. The initiative emphasizes that many proposed reforms can be implemented within existing policy frameworks. This includes aligning curricula with the rapidly changing demands of the AI-driven economy and ensuring that students are equipped with the necessary skills for future employment.
