IndiaAI Mission's second tranche: ₹4,200 cr, and what it actually funds.

MeitY's IndiaAI Mission released its second funding tranche this week — ₹4,200 crore split across compute-credit subsidies, sovereign-LLM development grants, and an accelerator track for Indic-language tooling. The headline number is large, but the qualifying criteria narrow the eligible pool sharply.

For most Indian AI startups, the practical takeaway is the compute-credit lane. Up to ₹50 lakh of GPU-hour credits at the IndiaAI consortium's preferred providers, with a four-week application window. Worth the paperwork.
